Configure the PC for (Windows Vista):

1. Click on the Start Button .
 

2. You will possibly have two options depending on how the user has their start menu set. The first options will be the Vista start menu
The second options will be the Classic start menu

Option 1: Vista start menu - Click on Control Panel

Option 2: Windows Classic View
  • Mouse over the Settings option
  • Click on Control Panel

Option 1:
Vista's View

  • Find the Network and Internet option
  • Click on the 'View network status and tasks' link

Option 2: Classic View

  • Find and double click on the Network and Sharing Center icon.

  • Find and click on the View Status link in the Connection/Local Area Connection row.

  • Click on the Properties button at the bottom of the Local Area Connection Status window

  • Left Click once on the listing 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' to highlight it.
  • Do NOT remove the check from the check box
  • Once the listing is highlighted click on the Properties button

Option 1 & 2: Vista and or Classic View

Step 1:

  • The 'General' tab will normally be selected by default. If not, verify that it is selected.
  • Change the radio button from 'Use the following IP address' to 'Obtain an IP address automatically.'
  • Change the radio button from 'Use the following DNS server addresses:' to 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'


 

8. Close windows

  • Click on the Close button to close the Local Area Connections Properties Window
  • Click on the Close button to close the Local Area Connections Status Window.
  • Close the Network and Sharing Center Window.
  • Close the Control Panel Window.

9. You may want to reboot your system, but are not required to.

10. Your Done!
