How To Move Spam to a Specified Folder Using Outlook Express


1. Open Outlook Express
 


 

2. In your folder list on the left side of the Outlook Express interface, right-click on the Local Folders and left-click New Folder.
 


 

3. In the Folder name text box, type SPAM and click OK.
 


 

4. You should now have a folder called SPAM underneath your Local Folders.
 


 

5. Now click on Tools > Message Rules > Mail.
 


 

6. The dialog menu below is where you will be spending most of your time managing your custom SPAM filter. This is a very powerful tool and allows you to do much more than just filter SPAM. We will be separating this dialog menu into four parts.
 


 

7.  Select Where the Subject line contains specific words by clicking in the check box
 


 

8. Select Move it to the specified folder by clicking in the check box
 


 

9. Click on the link: contains specific words
 


 

10. Type phases or a word into the text box and click on the Add button. I have added a few words below as an example. You may always return to this dialog menu to add new words later. When you are finished, click the OK button
 


 

11. You may now define where you would like to redirect your SPAM. Clicking on the "specified" folder link.
 


 

12. Click on the SPAM folder and then click OK.
 


 

13. Finally, choose a name for the specific rule that you just created. I named the rule SPAM Subject to reflect that I am trapping SPAM by using keywords and phrases in the subject line of incoming emails. Now click the OK button
 


 

14. You have just created your first rule. Click the OK button to return to your mailbox
